There is not a lot of Illicitizen news. We are still putting the finishing touches on “Feathers and Wax.” We have a buuuunch of exciting shows coming up in June.
AdWeek requires you to share certain stories in order to finish reading them. Why would I want to share something I can’t read? And is there anything more desperate a publisher can do? Gross.
I want to talk to the evil stupid-genius that invented this.
Fuck everything about this.
This is bullshit, and just continues to support my decision to leave Facebook.

Meh, the barn door is closing. Run!
Milestones: David Byrne is 60 today — watch full Talking Heads concert filmed in 1980
He was a pedantic government technocrat
a felt hat on a straw man making an argument with himself
he was the kind of guy who had access to all your passwords
but you’d never give them to him voluntarily
the hypocrisy could tie him in knots
it would leave him out of breath and in cold sweat
the worst part he was a open book
he had no secrets, no fetishes, no master plan
he simply wanted to travel through the next day
plying twisted logic to determine what was and was not his job
he clung to arcane rules that had expired prior to the last reorganization
at some point he realized, he did not have a wife in new york
he was not working on a new album due out this summer
he was never going to be a Top Chef, he would always remain bottom
shelf
he would always remain bottom
shelf
he simply wanted to travel through the next day
still clinging to ideology left behind by politicians
who never intended to be taken seriously
he fell down and that was as close to standing up
as he was ever going to get
he simply wanted to travel through the next day
forced into the idolatry of other people’s fantasies
he soon realized he had never been alive
and from the lab results returned in the mail
it was clear that he would surely never die
this gave him pause
he simply wanted to travel through the next day
a broken turning signal a bro ken turn ing sig nal
abrok en turni ng signal a broken turning signal
on
he hurried into the office to make believe
one more time that this parking deck was a reality.
he simply wanted to travel through the next day
I know I posted this everywhere yesterday…somehow I missed Tumblr. Anyway, this will be the cover of the 2nd Illicitizen CD “Feathers and Wax.” Photo is by Mike Caffrey of Monster Island Studios. He tracked, mixed and mastered our CD. We hope to release it mid-July. Location information.
[Bessie] Smith also felt no fear when it came to confronting the racism so prevalent in the South. Once, when performing a tent show in [Kannapolis, NC], members of the Ku Klux Klan, in full Klan regalia, surrounded the tent, threatening to pull it down and trap everyone inside. Smith stormed out and confronted them, shouting, “You had better pick up them sheets and run!” The men took to their heels. Smith went back to performing, as if confronting the KKK were all in a day’s work.
If you’ve been following along you are already aware that in late February Illicitizen went to NYC to record our 2nd CD “Feathers and Wax.” Things don’t always go as planned, but you can either set on the curb and wait for the bring-out-your-dead man to come and haul you away or, feel like going for a walk.
We decided that we feel happy and were not quite ready to submit to this situational malaise.
Maria goes back to the Dr, Monday. Hopefully they’ll be taking that thing out of her arm.
Feathers and Wax is mixed. The cover photo shoot in the traffic of the Flat Iron district went really well. We’re deciding on the order of songs, and then the mastering and duplication have to get done.
I think we are still on track for our June release and if not then, soon after. If you are going out for Record Store Day, why not warm up that plastic money with a trip to iTunes? Buy an mp3 and help support Illicitizen as we battle to get this 2nd record completed. For you traditional CD purchasers, you can get a physical copy here.
